Meat and Pasta, who doesn’t love a good ole bowl of Spaghetti!?! This is an adult AND kid friendly meal!! I love making this Spaghetti- not quite homemade, but definitely not out of a jar. It is easy and quick to throw all the ingredients together and it won’t break the bank either, win-win! It tastes so much better than store bought sauces. Throw the ingredients in a pot and let it simmer for a few hours and then you have a great hearty meal! It is great for large crowds or for freezing the sauce for the ever popular freezer meals. Cook once, eat twice!
this is a great starter meal for new cooks, you can’t mess this one up!
- package of spaghetti noodles
- 4 cans tomato sauce
- 2 cans diced tomatoes (with Basil Garlic & Oregano)
- 3 lbs hamburger meat
- 1 Tbs minced garlic
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 jar sliced mushrooms, drained
- pepper to taste
*I drain the juice from the diced tomatoes for a thicker sauce. If you like a thin sauce do not drain.
**you can add salt as well, but we are not big on adding salt to meals.
In a large stockpot (I use 8 quart), cook hamburger meat on medium-high heat until done. Drain the grease and return meat to stove. Add your onions and peppers and sauté 3-5 minutes.
Stir in 1 Tablespoon garlic and cook for one minute. Next pour in your cans of tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Stir well and add your mushrooms and black pepper. Turn your heat up to medium high, stirring occasionally. When it starts to bubble turn your heat down to low. Let simmer for at least two-three hours with lid on; stirring occasionally.
When you are ready to eat, boil your noodles until al dente; drain.
Don’t forget, Spaghetti isn’t spaghetti without Parmesan Cheese!!!
Garlic Bread and a side salad go well with spaghetti!
